You're probablyaware that the Express Entry pools are extremely competitive, with only thehighest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores receiving Invitations toApply (ITAs) for permanent residency. So, let's look at how you may improveyour CRS score and get your own ITA in 2021.

Candidates forthe Canada Experience Class (CEC) and those who have received a provincialnomination have been the only ones who have received invitations so far. It'sunclear when the System will start sending invitations to Federal SkilledWorker and Federal Trades Worker applicants, but with Canada's Covid-19immunization programme gaining steam by the day, restrictions may be relaxedshortly, allowing services like customs to resume normal operations. How can you maximize your score?

Because of thebacklog that has built up over the past year, when the Express Entry Systemresumes processing FSWP and FSTP candidates, there will be even morecompetition. It is critical that you take every precaution to ensure that yourCRS score is as high as possible so that you have the highest chance ofreceiving an ITA.

1. The language test results

It should gowithout saying that the first thing you can do to improve your CRS is to makesure your CLB score is higher than an 8, as there is a considerable pointdifference there. Now we'll look at skill transferability points, which iswhere a strong CLB score comes in handy. If you have a solid qualification, itfollows that the better your English or French skills are, the more productiveyou can be in the workforce. If you have a CLB score of 9 or higher, you can get more than twice as many extra points as if you have a lower CLB score.

2. Work experience

These principleswill clearly take a little longer to grasp; think of it as a long game. Theadvantage of gaining work experience in Canada before applying for permanentresidency through the Express Entry system is that you will have a taste oflife in Canada, and while we are confident you will be extremely happy, it willnot be as permanent. Two, you'll be eligible for the Canada Experience Class, which gives candidates a leg up on the FSWP and FSTP by demonstrating their ability to function in Canadian society.
